New Year’s Eve is one of the few nights where everyone’s out at once. Pubs, bars, clubs, hotels and event venues all across the UK are competing for the same crowd, and the first thing people see as they walk down the street is the outside of your building.
Flags are a cheap and simple way to get noticed. They move, they’re tall, and they can be seen from the other end of the road in a way that a poster in the window can’t. Here are the ones that make the most sense for New Year and how to get them right.
Feather And Teardrop Flags Outside Your Venue
If you want people to spot your venue from down the street, feather flags and teardrop flags are the ones to go for. Both come in small, medium and large, starting at £79.99 + VAT.
The stand matters more than people think. A ground spike works on grass, a metal crossbar base suits a hard surface like a pavement or patio, and a water weight base holds it steady on hard ground when the wind picks up. On a winter night it usually does. If people will be walking towards the flag from both directions, go double sided so the print reads the right way round on both sides.
Hand Waving Flags For The Countdown
Hand waving flags are great for parties, private events and venues that want something for guests to hold at midnight. They also come out well in photos, which means your logo ends up all over people’s social media the next morning. Prices start at £10 + VAT.
Advertising Flags For The January Sales
New Year isn’t just about the night itself. Lots of shops and businesses go straight into January offers, and a printed advertising flag outside the door is an easy way to let passers by know there’s a sale on. There’s a good range of sizes, from £22.99 + VAT.
Should You Put 2027 On It?
It’s tempting, and a big “Happy New Year 2027” looks great on the night. The downside is that it’s out of date by February. If you’d like to get more than one use out of your flags, think about going with your logo and a simple message that’ll still work next year, or for other events through the year.
Whatever you go for, keep the wording short. Flags move and you’re reading them from a distance, so a venue name and three or four words is plenty. You can put the design together yourself with our free online design tool, upload your own artwork, or use our design service for £20.
Order Before The Christmas Rush
Flags usually take 7 to 8 working days, with orders in by 12pm starting the same day. Bank holidays aren’t working days, so the time between Christmas and New Year goes a lot quicker than you’d expect. Our advice is to order in early December and not leave it to the last week.
We deliver UK-wide, free on orders over £65 or £4.50 under that. If you need lots of flags for a big event or aren’t sure which stand to pick, ask us for a quote and we’ll help you sort it.
